Exultate Singers’ second CD, A Time For Singing, features a selection of beautiful choral works, recorded and produced by John Rutter in 2008. Tracks include joyful motets from Byrd, Brahms, Rheinberger and Tallis and contemporary jazz and pop songs such as Come Sunday by Duke Ellington and And so it goes by Billy Joel.
Christmastide is well served with the up-tempo Tomorrow shall be my dancing day by John Gardner, the smooth What sweeter music by John Rutter and the gentle Lully, lulla by Kenneth Leighton. Also included is the first recording of Christ whose glory fills the sky, a hymn anthem for SSAATTBB a cappella by Ian Carpenter written to celebrate the 300th birthday of Charles Wesley in 2007. It was first performed by Exultate Singers in the oldest Methodist chapel in the world – the New Room in central Bristol.
