Realms of Glory is the debut CD from City of Bristol Choir (CBC), one of the finest choirs in the South West of the UK.
Recorded in the summer of 2013, tracks include exquisite and tender motets from Bruckner and Lauridsen, alongside the technically challenging Hymn to the Virgin by Benjamin Britten and Here is the Little Door by Herbert Howells. On a lighter note, David Ogden’s brilliantly fresh Angels from the Realms of Glory lifts the spirits and give the CD its title.
Two Christmas carols by Ian Carpenter are recorded here for the first time: the gentle lullaby Dormi Jesu and the upbeat Deck the hall, both of which were written specifically for CBC.
