Deck the hall

An original setting of the well-known American Christmas text, for SATB with piano (or small orchestra) mostly in alternating 7/8 and 4/4.
The text of Deck the hall is fairly short so the piece uses the fa la la la la vocalisation at several points: the piece opens with a fa la la fanfare-like section. The second verse is sung as a canon between the upper and lower voices and, following a further fa la la interlude, the final verse includes a descant and a fa la la coda.
This carol was recorded for Realms of Glory, the 2013 debut CD from City of Bristol Choir. It was also performed by the BBC Singers on BBC Radio 3 in December 2021.
