Rejoice the Lord is King!

This setting of the well-known hymn by Charles Wesley was written in April 1989 and first performed later that year in All Saints’ Church, Wokingham at the inauguration of the new trumpet stops on the church’s organ. It includes a fanfare-like organ part and a broad declamatory tune sung largely in unison by the choir. The central verses range across some more delicate textures and through different tonalities before returning to the opening theme for the triumphal final verse.
