This is a simple setting of the first verse of Psalm 42: Like as the hart desireth the water-brooks : so longeth my soul after thee, O God.
It was written for the baptism service of Elouise Samways at Axbridge Parish Church on 17 January 2010. The opening section features a 2-part 10-bar canon between the upper voices and lower voices. A more meditative central section is followed by a return of the opening canon with the parts reversed.
