Sleep, baby, sleep

This is a simple lullaby-style setting of a charming Christmas poem by John Addington Symonds (1840–1893). The original text has seven verses of only two lines each followed by a short refrain. I have combined the short verses into three verses of four lines each followed by the refrain – I omitted the fifth verse as this still allows us to hear about the angels, shepherds and Kings!
The second verse presents the tune in the tenor part and the third verse is followed by two repeats of the refrain.
