Wassail Carol

This setting of a 16th century Wassail was composed for Martin Le Poidevin, Richard Johnson and the gentlemen of Exultate Singers in 2010 and first performed in the chapel of Clifton College, Bristol, in December 2010. The music features staggered two-part “Wassail” figures and a tripping tune in 6/8 and 3/4 that ranges through several related tonalities.
